French Regular Verb Conjugation in Present Tense

French regular verbs are mainly categorized into three groups. Below is a list of conjugations for each group in the present tense.

1st Group Verbs (-er verbs)

Example: parler (to speak)

Pronoun Conjugation Meaning
je parle I speak
tu parles you speak
il/elle/on parle he/she/one speaks
nous parlons we speak
vous parlez you (formal/plural) speak
ils/elles parlent they (masculine/feminine) speak

2nd Group Verbs (-ir verbs, ending with -issons)

Example: finir (to finish)

3rd Group Verbs (irregular -oir, -re, and other -ir verbs)

-re Verbs

The third group of verbs includes many irregularities, and there are even more types not covered here. Other essential irregular verbs include être (to be), avoir (to have), and aller (to go).
